How To Lay Tiles
Step by Step Instructions
1 Hanging the first tile
With the adhesive applied to the section of wall, press the first tile firmly into place in the angle formed by the two setting-out battens. Begin at the bottom row and work upwards.
2 Complete rows
Butt up tiles on each side of the first tile and build up three or four rows at a time. If the tiles don't have spacer lugs, use thick card or proprietary plastic spacers or even matchsticks to space them evenly for the grout.
3 Check levels
Spread more adhesive and 'build up' more rows until the first rows of whole tiles are complete. Every three or four rows, hold a batten and spirit level across the tile faces and along the top and edges to check for accuracy.
